Kaiser Woodland PFO is excited to announce this year's musical, Newsies Jr. There are 60 available spots in the show. The first 60 students (4th-6th grade) who register and audition will be cast. 6th grade students will have a 1 day advance opportunity to register. Please note: spots fill up quickly. *Please read all of the important information below, including online registration tips.*

This experience will provide 14 weeks (60+ hours) of theater instruction provided by professional directors, as well as the opportunity to perform for family and friends in a high school theater. An OPTIONAL DONATION of $250 per participant is requested for tuition. The production of this play is not a fundraiser. Tuition and ticket sales are what mostly cover the cost of this wonderful experience. The $250 represents $4.16 per hour for 60 hours of theater instruction.

Our registration system does require a dollar amount in order to check out. If you are unable to pay for registration, please enter $1 and check out using a credit card. We will refund the $1.

Please carefully review the dates and discuss the commitment with your child. There are 27 rehearsal dates (including a busy tech week) and 3 days of performances. It is VERY important that your child attend ALL rehearsals, tech week and performances. If your child cannot make this commitment, please do not register for the play. We do not cast understudies and all roles cast are important to the success of the play. Please also note that all students will be expected to abide by a behavior contract with a three strike rule. Saturday 9/28 (9am - 5pm) - 6th Grade Priority Registration
Sunday 9/29 (5pm - until all 60 spots are filled) - General Registration 4-5th Graders

Make sure you have a solid internet connection.
It is advised to try to register using something other than your phone.
Spots will fill up within minutes.
Have a credit card handy as you will need one in order to check out. See notes about payment above.

Mandatory Parent Meeting - Kaiser MPR

Monday, 10/7: 6pm - 7pm → Many parent volunteer positions are needed and will be explained at this meeting.

Auditions - Kaiser MPR **All students registered will receive a role.**

Monday, 10/14: 3pm - 5pm
Tuesday, 10/15: 3pm - 5pm
Tuesday, 10/22: 1:45pm - 3:45pm.

Rehearsals - Kaiser MPR

Weekly Rehearsals Tuesdays and Fridays from 3pm - 5pm
First Rehearsal Date will be Tuesday 10/29. No Rehearsals on Friday, November 1, during Thanksgiving Break, or Winter Recess.

Mandatory Tech Week & Performances at Newport Harbor High School Theater

Monday 2/10 - Wednesday 2/12: TECH WEEK 3:30pm - 7:30pm
Thursday 2/13 - KAISER SCHOOL PERFORMANCES (*students only - no families)
**IMPORTANT: The performances will be the weekend before/of President’s Week. Make sure your travel plans do not begin until Sunday, 2/16 or later.
Friday 2/14: 1 PUBLIC PERFORMANCE
Saturday 2/15: 2 PUBLIC PERFORMANCES

** On Thursday, 2/13, The Newsies Jr. cast will perform for their peers. Performers will turn in a field trip permission slip in advance to participate in the Thursday performances at NHHS. Attendance will be taken at the theater. Any students not present when attendance is taken will be marked absent from school that day. Additionally, students must be at school all day on Friday to perform on Friday evening.
